Parents are everything!
“One of the greatest titles in the world is parent, and one of the biggest blessings in the world is to have parents to call mom and dad”. –Jim DeMint.
Arriving Lagos very late in the night, the environment was pretty dangerous and bikes were not in sight. The few ones that arrive were surrounded by the swarms of people desperate to get to their destination.
Rain was drizzling and the journey had worn me down. There was no strength to struggle. I just needed to go home, take a hot shower, empty my bladder and have a great dinner.
“Hello dad”.
“Yes daughter, where are you?”
“I’m at the filling station. Okadas are no here at all”.
“Okay, just stay where you are. I’m coming right now to pick you up”. My dad said and hung up.
Despite the journey’s frustration and the rain that had drenched me from head to toe, I managed to break a smile because I knew for sure that there is someone who would always stand by me, always!
Parents are the support in life. They are everything. They are God sent, blessings from God to make us feel loved, responsible and appreciated.
Ezra Taft Benson says, “Our Parents deserve our honour and respect for giving us life itself. Beyond this they almost always made countless sacrifices as they cared for and nurtured us through our infancy and childhood, provided us with the necessities of life, and nursed us through physical illnesses and the emotional stresses of growing up”.
Parents are our role models. They nurtured us right from childhood to adulthood. The truth is that we cannot completely repay our Parents for what they’ve done for us.
“Parents are the ultimate role models for children. Every word, movement and action has an effect. No other person or outside force has a greater influence on a child than the Parent”. –Bob Keeshan.
Parents do not deserve to be treated unjustly, rudely and disrespected. They deserve to be respected, loved and appreciated for the countless things they’ve done for us.
I remember when I went out and arrived home very late. My dad had called to know where I was. I told him I was on my way and he prayed that I get home safely, informing me of the dangers of night walking.
After two hours, it was getting really late. He called once again and I informed him that I was almost home. I was really scared, not because of anything but to see the hurt and disappointment in my father’s eyes was what I didn’t want to witness.
I explained to him when I got home and he advised me to always postpone whatever duty I plan on embarking when it gets late.
Our Parents should be like jewels and vessels. We shouldn’t dream of making them feel bad or hurt in anyway. Rather, we should strive to make feel happy and proud of us.
Billy Graham says, “A child who is allowed to be disrespectful to his Parents will not have true respect for anyone”.
Brian Blessed says that, “My Parents taught me honesty, truth, compassion, kindness and how to care for people. Also, they encouraged me to take risks, to boldly go. They taught me that the greatest danger in life is not taking the adventure”.
Parents have done lots of amazing things for us, but there will be one that is very outstanding.
What have any of your Parents done for you that moved you to tears, made you realize how much they love and care for you? I want a response for all of you.

As always, Life is an art. It is very beautiful and lovely. Although, behind those lovely designs are mistakes and errors. Life is not always the way we want it to be but it is our duty to make ourselves happy.
Remember that life is very short to be unhappy. So forgive quickly, love truly and never forget anything that made you smile!!!
